DURABLE VEGETABLE-TANNED LEATHER
Only the finest quality vegetable-tanned leather is used, ensuring strength, beauty, and durability.
EXTENDED 10-YEAR GUARANTEE
The Brooks extended 10-year guarantee on all our leather saddles is based on the quality and consistency of materials and the excellent workmanship of our craftsmen.
HANDCRAFTED SINCE 1866
For over 150 years, our workshops have been dedicated to crafting Brooks' iconic leather saddles.
LASTING COMFORT & BREATHABILITY
Leather is a naturally breathable material that offers unique comfort. The leather top is suspended over the saddle rails, forming a suspended, molded seat similar to a hammock, providing tailored, lasting comfort.
SHAPES OVER TIME
With each journey, our leather naturally conforms to the rider's unique body shape, resulting in a more comfortable ride.
UNIQUE PREMIUM DETAILS
Special components, design, materials, and manufacturing techniques add unique character and timeless distinction.

RIDING POSITION
Our best B17 version is also suitable for women and smaller riders, featuring the special details and finishes of the B17 Special Short Saddle. Like all our leather saddles, each exquisite B17 Special is handcrafted in our factory in Smethwick, England, and meticulously adorned with hand-hammered copper rivets, which protect the durable vegetable-tanned leather to extend its lifespan. With its unique design and hammock-like performance, the B17 Special Short becomes a comfortable bicycle seat that naturally flexes and conforms to each rider's specific anatomy, developing a unique patina over time.
MAINTENANCE
Caring for your saddle will ensure it becomes comfortable and durable. Proofide is the only substance suitable for conditioning leather saddles. Specially formulated with unique ingredients, it conditions, preserves, and waterproofs, helping to keep the leather soft and pliable. With regular use, your saddle will adapt to your body and maintain its beauty, comfort, and support. New saddles should be treated at least once to aid in "breaking-in." Treat and protect your saddle from the elements. Never apply Proofide to a wet saddle. Apply a small amount of Proofide to the finished top surface of the leather, allowing it to penetrate until dry. Thoroughly wipe with a soft cloth to avoid any residual Proofide staining clothes. Also, apply Proofide to the underside of the saddle. Keep this coating to prevent dirt and moisture. During the "breaking-in" process, Proofide can be used multiple times. During and periodically thereafter. Do not over-use. After the break-in period, it is normal and appropriate to tension the saddle to maintain its shape and comfort. To tension the leather top, rotate the nose bolt nut clockwise, 90° at a time, checking after each turn until the desired tension is achieved. You can use the tension spanner or an Allen key.
F.A.Q.
Which Brooks saddle is right for me?
Our leather saddles come in different shapes and styles, depending on the type of bicycle or riding position. For example, wider saddles with springs are ideal for an upright, 90-degree posture. Medium width is generally used for touring or commuting when the rider's spine angle is at a 45 to 60-degree position. Generally, the more athletic the riding position, the narrower the saddle.
Why do I need to break in my leather saddle?
Due to the tanning process and the extensive handling during the shaping process in our factory, new leather is tough. This makes the fibers very strong, but also quite stiff. "Breaking-in" is the process by which the saddle leather becomes softer and more pliable. Time, effort, and care are key to keeping your leather saddle in optimal condition. Primarily through riding, the leather will conform to your body shape and become more flexible. Over time, the natural movement of the leather will act like a hammock when riding. But be careful not to let the leather sag too low, as this can cause it to contact the metal structure and potentially lead to saddle failure, not to mention discomfort, as you might be sitting on the upper rails or even the seat post itself in some models.
10-Year Warranty
Register your leather saddle on the Brooks website within 3 months of purchase to extend the standard 2-year warranty to a total of 10 years.
Handcrafted by British Artisans
Brooks England saddles are handcrafted in the UK. Minor cracks may appear on the leather surface during the pressing and shaping process, leaving traces of handcraftsmanship, making each one unique. At the same time, the saddle uses traditional materials such as iron and copper, so minor oxidation is normal and adds to the vintage style.
