Handcrafted Since 1866
For over 150 years, our English factory has continued to handcraft classic leather saddles.
Lasting Comfort and Breathability
Leather is a naturally breathable material, offering a unique level of comfort. The leather surface is suspended over steel rails, creating a hammock-like flexible structure that provides tailored and lasting comfort.
Shapes Over Time, Conforming to Your Ride
After each ride, the leather naturally conforms to the rider's unique shape, providing an even more comfortable experience.
The Flyer Special is a long-distance touring saddle equipped with a spring system and hand-hammered copper rivets, which protect the leather edges from wear for a long time. It shares the same premium leather top as the B17 while offering additional spring dampening and classic hand-hammered copper rivet details. The Flyer is one of our most popular classic models, handcrafted in our Smethwick factory in England, featuring a sturdy black powder-coated chassis.
Maintenance
Proper saddle care ensures its comfort and durability. Proofide is the only recommended maintenance product for leather saddles, designed to condition, preserve, and waterproof, keeping the leather supple. Regular use of Proofide will make the saddle conform better to your body while maintaining its appearance and support. A new saddle should be oiled at least once to help "break in" and protect the leather from the elements.
How to use:
1. Never apply Proofide to a wet saddle.
2. Apply a small amount of Proofide to the leather surface. After it's fully absorbed and dry, polish thoroughly with a soft cloth to prevent residue on clothing.
3. Apply Proofide to the underside of the saddle as well, to provide a protective layer against dirt and moisture.
During the break-in period, multiple applications can be made, followed by regular maintenance. Do not over-apply.
Once broken in, the saddle tension can be adjusted: turn the nose nut clockwise, 90 degrees at a time, gradually adjusting to the ideal tension (a special wrench or hex key can be used).
FAQ
Which Brooks saddle is best for me?
Brooks leather saddles vary in width and design based on riding posture and bike type. For an upright 90-degree riding posture, a wide spring-loaded model is recommended; for a moderately angled 45-60 degree posture, a mid-width touring/commuting model is suitable; the more aggressive the posture, the narrower the saddle should be.
Why do leather saddles need "breaking in"?
New leather, after tanning and factory shaping, has strong but relatively stiff fibers. "Breaking in" is the process of softening the leather to make it conform. Through riding, time, and proper care, the leather will gradually mold to your shape, providing comfort similar to swinging in a hammock. However, be careful not to let the leather sag too low, as it could come into contact with metal components, causing damage, or even result in sitting on the seatpost, which is extremely uncomfortable.
10-Year Extended Guarantee

Handcrafted by British Artisans
Brooks England saddles are entirely handmade in the UK. The leather surface may show subtle textures due to molding, which is proof of the handcrafted nature, making each saddle unique. The saddles use traditional iron and copper materials; oxidation is normal and adds to the vintage charm.
